Graspable vs Unity

Unity makes native headset apps; Graspable makes WebXR scenes with an agent. They are different things that people compare because both can end on a Quest.

Unity is the game engine most used for standalone headsets: native apps for Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, Android XR, phones and consoles, written in C#. Unity AI sits in the editor, and a free Unity CLI and MCP server let outside agents drive it. Facts about Unity are from its own pages, listed at the end, last checked on 3 October 2026. If something is out of date, tell us.

Choose Graspable when

you want a scene on a headset in minutes, opened from a link with nothing to install on the device, built and checked by an agent with your own AI account.

Choose Unity when

you need native performance, a store listing, the full Meta, Apple or Google SDKs, or an experience the web cannot carry.

Side by side

What you build
GraspableA desktop app for macOS (Windows and Linux are coming). You describe a 3D or XR scene; an AI agent builds it as a real React Three Fiber and WebXR project in a folder on your computer.
UnityNative apps (Quest APKs, visionOS, Android XR, iOS, desktop, consoles) and flat web builds. No official WebXR.
The AI
GraspableYour own AI account: an API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter and others, a ChatGPT subscription, or Claude Code with a Claude subscription. Models come from the provider’s own list.
UnityUnity AI (assistant and generators) on Unity-hosted models with metered credits; a free Unity CLI and MCP server for agents such as Claude Code and Codex; Meta XR Operator lets an agent drive a Quest app in the Meta XR Simulator.
Where it runs
GraspableOn your computer. Projects, previews, builds, keys and sign-ins stay there. A paid plan can move a project to a Cloud Agent and back.
UnityA multi-gigabyte editor on your computer; builds are installed on a device or run in a simulator.
Checking the result
GraspableA run ends only when the project builds and loads in a real browser without errors; recorded headset sessions are replayed after every change.
UnityPlay mode, test frameworks, simulators (Meta XR Simulator, XR Interaction Simulator) and devices; the agent tooling can enter play mode and take screenshots.
Headsets and devices
GraspableAny browser with WebXR. The app emulates a Meta Quest 3 or Meta VR Glasses in the preview; a project opens on a Quest or an Apple Vision Pro over Wi-Fi or USB.
UnityMeta Quest and Meta VR Glasses (Meta XR SDK), Apple Vision Pro (PolySpatial, which needs Unity Pro, Enterprise or Industry), Android XR, phone AR, consoles.
Your code
GraspableOrdinary code on your disk: React, three.js, React Three Fiber, @react-three/xr. Yours, in any editor, with a version per run.
UnityA project on your disk; engine source is read-only for Enterprise.
Price
GraspableFree to build with on your computer, on every plan. Builder $20, Pro $40, Studio $99 per seat add Cloud Agents, Fast mode, premium templates, teams and Credits (graspable.dev/pricing).
UnityPersonal free under $200K revenue; Pro $2,310 a year per seat; Industry $4,950 a year per seat; Unity AI credits metered, $10 a month on Personal after a trial (unity.com/pricing).
Native headset apps
GraspableWeb only today: no Unity, Unreal or native headset builds.
UnityThe point of Unity.

Where Unity is the better choice

  • Native performance and the full headset SDKs, with store distribution.
  • The de facto toolchain for XR studios, with an AI assistant in the editor and agent tooling from Unity and Meta.
  • Vision Pro, Android XR, phone AR and consoles from one project.

Where Graspable is

  • From a sentence to a scene on a headset in minutes, opened from a link, no app store.
  • A small app, no engine install; the project is ordinary web code.
  • Your own AI account instead of metered credits; free on the Personal-sized plan and above.
  • Agent runs that end only when the project builds and loads.

Our take

Unity is the right tool for native headset apps, and Graspable now builds Unity projects too. For most ideas, though, a WebXR scene opened from a link reaches more people with less in the way, and Graspable gets you there in minutes with your own AI account instead of a metered one.

Graspable is our product. The facts above are what we found; this paragraph is what we think.

Try Graspable

It is a desktop app, free with your own AI account. Describe a scene, watch it being built as a real project on your computer, and open it on your headset. See what people made and the requests behind each.
