Frequently asked questions

Short answers about cost, privacy, subscriptions, headsets and what you need to use Graspable.

Is Graspable free?

Yes, for building on your own computer with your own AI account. You pay your AI provider, not Graspable. Paid plans add Cloud Agents, premium templates and the Credits to run them. See Plans and billing.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe what you want and the agent writes the code. The code is a normal project you can read and edit, so knowing some code helps when you want fine control.

Does my code leave my computer?

The project lives and runs on your computer. Your requests and the code the agent reads go to the model provider you chose, so the model can answer. Graspable receives only counts-only run summaries and ratings you send, never your code. See Privacy and telemetry.

Can I use my ChatGPT subscription?

Yes. Select Graspable agent in Settings → AI for the agent and choose Sign in with ChatGPT. OpenAI tolerates this use but does not officially support it, so it may stop working. An API key is the fallback.

Can I use my Claude subscription?

Yes, through the Claude Code option. Anthropic allows a Claude subscription only inside Claude Code. To use Claude in the Graspable agent you need an Anthropic API key, which is billed separately.

Can I use a local model?

Yes. Add an account of the kind Custom / local (OpenAI-compatible) and point it at your endpoint, for example Ollama or LM Studio. See Engines and sign-in.

Which headsets work?

The preview opens in a headset's own browser, so the headset needs a browser with WebXR. Over Wi-Fi you scan a QR code. Over USB, the app supports Quest, Pico and Android XR headsets. You can also build without a headset, using the emulated one in the preview. See Preview and headset.

What does the agent build with?

Web technology: Vite, React, React Three Fiber and @react-three/xr. The Splat World template adds Gaussian splats. See Templates.

Can the agent break my computer?

File tools work only inside the project folder. Running a command asks you first, and you see the command before you allow it. Every file change is recorded, and Undo run puts the files back. See Approvals and safety.

What happens when the agent gets it wrong?

Graspable builds the project and loads it in a browser after each run. If that fails, the agent gets up to three tries to fix it. If you do not like the result, undo the run or tell the agent what to change.

Do I need a Graspable account?

No. An account is needed only for plans, and for sending ratings and anonymized run summaries.

Can a project keep running when my computer is off?

Yes, if you move it to the cloud. Cloud Agents come with the Builder plan and higher and use Credits. Cloud projects need the Graspable agent with an API key. See Cloud Agents.

Where are my projects?

In ~/Graspable/projects, one normal folder per project. You can open them in any editor. See Install Graspable.
