Choose Tabletop AR for a browser experience, or Unity AR tabletop for a native phone or Quest app. Both start with Signal Garden: a caretaker, a stranded garden and a courier that needs a working landing beacon.
Watch film plays the 90-second rescue. Play mission lets you turn the three relays until sunlight reaches the landing pad. The channels show the route, Hint identifies the next relay, and Undo takes back a turn. You can change the story, puzzle, objects and animation by asking the agent or editing the project yourself.
Put it on your table
| Device | How placement works |
|---|---|
| Android phone with an AR-capable WebXR browser | Enter AR, aim at a horizontal surface, then tap to place |
| Quest with a compatible browser | Enter AR, find a surface, then select with a controller or hand |
| iPhone Safari, or a browser without surface AR | Open the mission mat from Settings on another screen or print it; enter AR and point the phone at it |
| Native iOS app | ARKit surface tracking; built and signed through Unity and Xcode |
| Native Android phone app | ARCore surface tracking on supported phones |
| Native Quest app | OpenXR passthrough; select the Quest target in Unity |
The web experience needs a secure connection and camera permission. On browsers without surface AR, choose AR with a mat. The setup shows the picture and explains how to print it or display it on another screen before you open the camera. Keep the whole mat in view: losing it hides the scene and pauses the film; finding it resumes at the same moment. If surface detection is unavailable in an immersive session, the scene explicitly offers placement in front of you. That fallback does not detect a physical table.
These are separate tracking paths. A device that supports one does not necessarily support the others. WebAR on iPhone uses the mat; it does not offer markerless surface tracking.
Watch or play
On a flat screen, drag to inspect the miniature. In film mode, Settings → Follow film camera switches between the authored shots and your own view. In AR, your movement always controls the viewpoint. The film never moves your head camera.
In WebXR, if no horizontal surface is found after five seconds, a placement ring appears in front of you. Look where you want the garden, then pinch or press the trigger. This places it in your tracked space without claiming a detected table. Leave AR stays available in the floating controls, including before placement and when the main controls are hidden.
Touch a floating button with your index fingertip, or point and pinch to select it from a distance. Buttons highlight when targeted. In the rescue game, the same gestures turn the relays.
Settings also contains size and sound controls. Hide clears the main controls, and Show controls brings them back. The Made with Graspable link stays visible. Headsets have a small panel beside the garden for playback and the puzzle. Native phone controls stay inside the screen’s safe area when you rotate the phone; hiding them also hides the scene captions.
Make it yours
Try requests such as:
- “Turn the outpost into a lunar greenhouse. Make the robot inspect each plant before calling the courier.”
- “Add a fourth relay and let me undo any turn.”
- “Replace the outpost with my model. Keep the garden sixty centimetres across.”
- “Change the final shot to follow the courier, but keep the AR viewpoint under the viewer’s control.”
The film take contains editable object transforms, camera shots and score timing. The robot's walk follows the distance it travels, so changing the path does not make its feet slide. Imported models retain their materials and animation clips. The included rocky terrain is an original synthetic Gaussian scene, not a scan of a real place.
Native builds
The Unity template needs Unity 6 and the build modules for your target. In Unity, choose Signal Garden → Target → Phone AR or Quest, then build. Build Android app in Graspable exports the selected Android configuration; it does not choose a device or install it automatically. For iOS, use Unity's iOS module and Xcode signing. Camera access must be allowed on the phone. The native film activates iOS media playback when sound is on; use the phone’s media volume to set loudness. Phone builds target 60 frames per second, with actual performance depending on the device and scene.
The native Gaussian renderer is intended for the small included terrain. Large captures need a separate performance budget and device testing; replacing this terrain with a much larger file is not a performance guarantee.
The Quest target uses Android 12L or newer; the phone target keeps its separate Android requirement. Select the target before building so the correct tracking and platform settings are applied.
Plans and costs
Tabletop AR comes with Builder and higher plans; native Unity templates come with Pro and higher. Viewing and local tracking do not consume Credits. Agent work and paid generation use the existing model or generation charges shown by Graspable.
The web template self-hosts the open-source 8th Wall image tracker. It does not include the separately licensed 8th Wall world-tracking binary or a paid tracking service. Unity's own licensing terms still apply to native development.
