Building

Generated worlds

Ask for a place and get it as a 3D world you can stand in, generated by World Labs and saved into your project as Gaussian splats.

A world is a place: a loft, a tavern, a forest clearing. Ask for one in plain words and the agent generates it with World Labs and saves it into your project. You can then walk through it, put things in it and build on it.

Worlds are Gaussian splats: a way to show a place as it looks, with real light and detail, instead of as modelled geometry. Graspable shows them with the Spark renderer.

Ask for a world

In a project made from one of the splat templates, just ask:

Make this a greenhouse workshop at dusk, full of plants and glassware, with warm light from hanging lamps.

The agent asks you before it starts, because a world costs Credits. Generation takes about five minutes. The run waits for it and then switches the scene to the new world.

Good descriptions say what kind of place it is, what is in it, the light and the mood. One or two sentences are enough.

Sizes

Size What you get Credits
Draft A quick, rough version to check the idea 2
Standard The default 11
Large A bigger outdoor place or a large interior 21

A world that fails to generate costs nothing. Generating worlds through Graspable comes with the Builder plan and higher. See Credits.

With your own World Labs account

If you have a World Labs API key, you can use it instead of Credits. Open Settings → Plugins and connectors, switch on World Labs and enter the key. World Labs then bills you directly, and the Graspable plan does not matter.

What is saved

Each world is a folder in your project, public/worlds/<name>/:

File What it is
world-500k.spz The world, as 500,000 splats. This is what is shown
world-100k.spz A light version
collider.glb The same place as a plain mesh, for standing on floors and bumping into walls. It is never shown
pano.png The panorama the world was made from
world.json Its name, description, the scale that turns it into metres, and the credit line

The templates read world.json for you, so a world appears at real size with its floor at your feet.

A world you generated is yours to keep in the project. Worlds are generated with World Labs Marble; keep the credit in world.json with the files.

The templates that use worlds

  • Splat World: look around a world and add things to it.
  • World Explorer: walk through a world as if it were solid.
  • World Game: a game inside a world, with physics.
