A kitchen island showroom in Unreal Engine

A kitchen island at real size with an oak worktop, a sink, bar stools and pendant lamps, written as a script and built by Unreal Engine.

A game picture from Unreal Engine: a showroom with light walls, a kitchen island with a pale oak worktop on dark cabinets, a steel tap over a sink, a chopping board, three round bar stools on steel legs in front, three steel pendant lamps above, and the words Oak & Steel on the wall

The request, word for word

This is the text that was sent to the agent to start the project. Nothing was edited for this page.

Turn this into a showroom for a kitchen island, the kind of scene a kitchen maker would commission to show a design at real size before it is built. Keep the room, but make it a showroom: 7 by 6 metres, a concrete floor, light plaster walls. The island stands in the middle, 2.4 m long, 1.0 m deep and 0.92 m high: a 4 cm oak worktop that overhangs the cabinets by 3 cm at the front and the ends and by 30 cm on the seating side; below it a row of four painted cabinets (use the painted metal surface for the fronts) with a 2 mm gap between the fronts and a slim steel bar handle on each; a dark recessed plinth 10 cm high under the cabinets. On the worktop: a steel sink bowl set into the top near one end with a tall steel tap made of cylinders, and a walnut chopping board with a small amber bowl on it. On the seating side three bar stools, each a round walnut seat on four slim steel legs with a steel foot ring, seat height 65 cm, evenly spaced. Above the island three pendant lamps in a row, 1.6 m above the floor: a thin black cord from the ceiling, a dark steel shade (a short cylinder), and a warm lamp inside each that lights the worktop. Keep the room's soft fill light low so the pendants make the picture. On the wall behind the island, the name of the range in large letters: "Oak & Steel", and under it in smaller letters "Island 240, as shown". Stand me 3 m from the island, a little to the side, so I see the seating side and one end. Everything in metres at real size; nothing floating, nothing intersecting; every part with a material that says what it is made of.

How it went

Runs
One run: the request above, and it was done. A run ends only when the project builds and loads in a real browser without errors.
Started from
The Unreal Engine XR template: An Unreal Engine 5 project for OpenXR headsets whose level is a Python script: scenes in real materials, things to grab, hinges and drawers, with Unreal's own rig for hands and controllers.
Notes and credits
A scene to look at: the template builds scenes, materials and light from a script; it has no interaction of its own. Not tried on a headset. AI: Claude Code.
