Graspable vs Bolt.new
Bolt can add three.js to a web app on request; Graspable is built around XR. Which one for a 3D scene, and which for an app?
Bolt.new, by StackBlitz, is a browser app builder: a chat agent scaffolds and edits a web or Expo mobile project running in the tab, with hosting, a database and GitHub sync. Facts about Bolt.new are from its own pages, listed at the end, last checked on 3 October 2026. If something is out of date, tell us.
Choose Graspable when
the 3D or XR scene is the point, you want it checked in an emulated headset, and you want to use your own AI account.
Choose Bolt.new when
you want a web or Expo mobile app with nothing installed, a Figma design to start from, and hosting included.
Side by side
- What you build
- GraspableA desktop app for macOS (Windows and Linux are coming). You describe a 3D or XR scene; an AI agent builds it as a real React Three Fiber and WebXR project in a folder on your computer.
- Bolt.newWebsites, web apps, Expo mobile apps (with an Expo Go preview), slides. No WebXR, Quest, Vision Pro or headset preview was found in its docs, release notes or home page.
- The AI
- GraspableYour own AI account: an API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter and others, a ChatGPT subscription, or Claude Code with a Claude subscription. Models come from the provider’s own list.
- Bolt.new"Bolt handles model selection behind the scenes" (Standard and Max agents). No bring-your-own key on bolt.new; the MIT fork bolt.diy supports many providers.
- Where it runs
- GraspableOn your computer. Projects, previews, builds, keys and sign-ins stay there. A paid plan can move a project to a Cloud Agent and back.
- Bolt.newIn the browser; Bolt Cloud for hosting, database, auth and storage.
- Checking the result
- GraspableA run ends only when the project builds and loads in a real browser without errors; recorded headset sessions are replayed after every change.
- Bolt.newThe agent fixes what it sees in the tab; nothing checks a scene in a headset.
- Headsets and devices
- GraspableAny browser with WebXR. The app emulates a Meta Quest 3 or Meta VR Glasses in the preview; a project opens on a Quest or an Apple Vision Pro over Wi-Fi or USB.
- Bolt.newNone documented.
- Your code
- GraspableOrdinary code on your disk: React, three.js, React Three Fiber, @react-three/xr. Yours, in any editor, with a version per run.
- Bolt.newYou keep rights to your content; GitHub sync commits every 30 seconds. Uploads are limited to 10 MB on Free and 100 MB on Pro, which matters for 3D assets.
- Price
- GraspableFree to build with on your computer, on every plan. Builder $20, Pro $40, Studio $99 per seat add Cloud Agents, Fast mode, premium templates, teams and Credits (graspable.dev/pricing).
- Bolt.newFree with daily tokens; Pro $25 a month for 10M tokens, larger tiers at $50 and $100; Teams $30 a month per member (bolt.new/pricing).
- Native headset apps
- GraspableWeb only today: no Unity, Unreal or native headset builds.
- Bolt.newNone.
Where Bolt.new is the better choice
- Nothing to install; Figma to code; Expo mobile apps.
- Hosting, database and auth included; a generous free tier.
- An open-source fork (bolt.diy) for any model.
Where Graspable is
- XR templates, an emulated headset and replayed headset tests.
- Your own AI account; cost follows your provider, not a token meter that grows with every 3D asset.
- Big assets (models, splats, room scans) are ordinary files on your disk.
Our take
Bolt is quick to a web or mobile app. For 3D and XR, Graspable’s templates, emulated headsets and replayed tests do work you would otherwise do by hand, and your AI account keeps the cost of a scene full of assets predictable.
Graspable is our product. The facts above are what we found; this paragraph is what we think.
Try Graspable
It is a desktop app, free with your own AI account. Describe a scene, watch it being built as a real project on your computer, and open it on your headset. See what people made and the requests behind each.
