Tabletop AR placement

Detect the actual available AR mode before showing placement instructions. Native phone plane tracking, WebXR hit testing and image-target WebAR are different capabilities. On iPhone browsers, never promise automatic table detection when the current runtime needs a tracking image.

Show a placement reticle only when its pose is valid. Keep the scene anchored after placement. Provide reposition, scale, reset and Leave AR actions accessible with the supported input. Test controller rays, hand pointing and direct touch separately. When hit testing is unavailable, explain any manual placement fallback.

Start audio from a user gesture and handle blocked playback. Keep a useful screen mode for people without AR support. Validate on target hardware before describing tracking quality or input as verified.
